A documentary “Feeding Lewisham - Foodbanks in crisis” dir. Cara Bowen is being screened at film festivals globally. I edited the film during the lockdown in 2020 when I was unemployed for several months because of the pandemic.
I wanted to help out my community by being involved in the making of the film that highlights the problem of poverty in the UK. The documentary centres around the work of a charity group We Care Food Bank - Corona Community Support Network. During the pandemic it provides food to around 5000 people and pets in need of support.
The film now has been recognised internationally and it’s been screened at the festivals globally: New York City International Film Festival, Canada Short Film Festival, Five Continents International Film Festival in Venezuela and London International Short Film Festival.
Feeding Lewisham inspires and also serves as a piece of historical evidence of a time in British history where for so many the only support they had in a time of crisis was each other.
